Aerobic vs. Anaerobic
KWL chart: Students use prior knowledge to learn about anaerobic cellular respiration
Bingo: At the beginning of class hand out a bingo card to all students and a few piece of paper. Throughout the class, students fill out their bingo card when the word is used in class. If they make up a vertical, horizontal or 4 corners the students yell out: Anaerobic Bingo! This activity may be a bit of a distraction to students if you are teaching them something for the first time. As a result, it may be best used when reviewing a topic.
Board game: Students answer questions on aerobic and anaerobic cellular respiration and photosynthesis. Players roll the die, take a card, answer the question correctly and move the number of dots on the die.
First player to reach the end of the game wins. Continue playing to find out who comes in second, third, and fourth place. This could be used for review before the unit test. In order to make sure everyone can play, it would be ideal to set up smaller groups of 4 or 5 and have a board game for each group.
