Mark - Recapture Game (Lesson #1)
Have the students use quadrats to estimate non-mobile populations. Each student needs to have graph paper and a quadrat for their group. You can use anything (ie. beads, beans, rice) as your population. Have the students count the entire population for one quadrat and have them estimate the total population.
Using the mark - recapture method, students will choose a sample size from their population and mark them with a black felt tip marker. They will then reintroduce the marked item back into the entire population. They will then draw another sample size and use what they have learned in class in order to predict the total population.

Follow the rules as outlined in the worksheet:
